In PA we only get 1 buck tag. Doe tags are limited in some counties and plentiful in others.

Unless you are a nonresident who gets to apply 2 weeks after the residents. Regardless of if you are a land-owner paying taxes in the State or not!

In Ohio you can get multiple Does by buying tags and moving around to different areas..but 1 buck per year regardless of weapon used.

Check VT, NH, CO, CA, NV, AZ, WA, AK, for starters, I'm sure at least a couple of them will only allow 1 deer.

Colorado will only allow one a year. That's bow, rifle, and muzzle loader. You only get one tag, period. I enjoy my bow tag better than the other two, because you get a whole month to fill your tag.

Edit- I stand corrected, you can get only one buck tag. you can get a left over doe tag.

in SE Va we can kill 3 bucks and as many does as we buy tags for. We get 6 tags when we buy a license 3 either sex and 3 antlerless only. then you can buy all the antlerless tags you want.

RE: Which state will only allow ONE deer with a bow???

One tag in "Lottery" permit areas in Minnesota, which essentially includes the lower half of the state, regardless of weapon. Bow hunters can take buck or doe, gun hunters have to draw for a doe tag.

Other areas, typically in the state's Northern half are either "Managed," one buck and one doe or "Intensive Harvest," one buck and four does.

Wi, one buck per bow season in Northern WI. Some counties in Southern WI have earn a buck. you must shoot a doe first. Does in Northern Wi were 2 with each license and $2.00 per extra does last year.

Not in a general season in my unit but in others I believe there are a few that may.

But there are draw tags or damage tags and such that allow it.

Rob/PA Bowyer 08-23-2008 09:15 PM

RE: Which state will only allow ONE deer with a bow???

PA was covered however I'll restate it.

When you buy a resident license, you get a buck tag which can be used as a doe tag in late flintlock season with the purchase of a flintlock license BUT,

If that's all you buy like I have in the past that leaves me with a archery buck tag period! I can take a buck only during archery season.

I do however have the option of appying and paying for a antlerless tag. That doesn't mean that all PA hunters apply or but a tag.

Prior to last season I have not had an antlerless tag since the 90's. I had a buck tag only.

So in essence, unless an archery hunter applies and acquires an antlerless tag, we can tag only 1 buck(deer).

That doesn't count as far as what I am looking for ...... I was thinking how I wouldn't live in a state that only allows one deet total ... in PA, you can purchse additional

Washington state allows each hunter one deer per year.

You can put in and be drawn for a second antlerless only tag.

RE: Which state will only allow ONE deer with a bow???

about 90% sure PA used to be one deer a year....if you filled your buck tag you were not allowed to take a doe....

that was before my time...maybe one of the older PA guys can clarify...im pretty sure thats how it went though...

but these days, residents can easily obtain doe licenses...first round you can get any WMU you want if you fill the app out correctly...2nd round you can get 1/2 to 3/4 of the WMUs if you desire...after that you can buy as many special reg area tags as your heart desires...

RE: Which state will only allow ONE deer with a bow???

Oregon we can get a general buck, then if you want you can put in for a hair tag. That is crazy that other states you can get as many does as you want.
Op how many are can you get?

Here in Manitoba it's separated in Game Hunting Areas (GHAs), some GHAs allow up to 3 tags, others two, and of course the one I hunt in, only one.[&o]

That's correct. When I started deer hunting in Pa back in the early '70s, you were able to kill ONE DEER. Even if you killed adoe during the earlier archery season you were done deer hunting for season. Period.:(

IF not already mentioned Idaho is a one deer state.
Leftover NR tags become available to residents at NR prices if they want a 2nd deer.

RE: Which state will only allow ONE deer with a bow???

Here in MInnesota, they have 3 different areas. I live in a lottery area, wich means that I can only get 1 deer, either sex. Last year my area was management, which meant you could buy 1 extra doe only tag over the counter. Then there are some areas that are intensive harvest, and in those areas, you can tag a buck, or a doe with your regular license, and then you could buy up to 4 extra doe tags.

Phil from Maine 08-24-2008 07:50 PM

RE: Which state will only allow ONE deer with a bow???

Here where I am it's a 1 deer state for the most part. You can only shoot a doe in the permit draw areas with a bow. The area I am in is just Bucks only except for youth day in which a jr. hunter can shoot either. Maine also has some expanded archery zones that allow shooting of does in which you can buy tags for 12 dollars each in these areas. These areas are around built up areas for the most part where rifle hunting is not allowed.

in indiana you can buy a bow tag for a doe and buy another tag for another doe or buck.
You must pay for each tag per deer.
heck you can only kill a buck with a modern firearms

Nope, I dont like it either! The part that really sucks, is that about 25 miles to the west of me is the line between lottery, and management.
