I've had my minerals out all summer and they have been getting pounded non stop. My questions is a little bit of a spin off. Is it too late at this point to plant a fall food plot? I have the ability and the place and now have the equipment to but is it too late. I have never planted food plots before. I'm primarily looking to keep the deer on my place off the neighbors!

Don't want to hijack the thread, but it is not too late to plant, just depending where you are. I just planted last weekend. Most of the farmers around here don't even plant wheat untill Sept 1.

For the general health of the herd, it is never too late. Even if they don't use them much this year, it'll still be in the ground for next. Too bad it is illegal here.

I know

Lisa and I were doing a little scouting last night.....and we saw a bachelor group of bucks ina spot I hadn't thought about hanging a stand. So....I've got one more trip to make into there. While I'm in there....I might as well put out some minerals!

Works in my head, anyway.

You stated my feelings when you said since you are going in anyway.....might as well make the most of it. I was tardy on trimming some lanes this year and did not want to go in this late, but we had to plow under the summer plot last weekend so I went ahead and trimmed as well. I think you will be happy with the decision when you see how much they hit it.

I just got back from glassing this place (shortest scouting session of all time). 3 bucks in there.....all with at least 8 points......2 bigger than anything I've taken (which isn't saying a "lot").

The game begins.....

I don't think it's ever too late. That's just me though.

Good luck with those bucks this year Jeff.

Good luck, if it make you feel better I haven't even hung my stand yet. Will mostly use my climber though.
