I'm sorta pissed at the MDC in MO this year for the season opener... they have stuck to the Sept. 15th date which falls on a Monday!
Would it kill them to move it to the 13th?! How's a guy (or several thousand guys) supposed to make the most of a long weekend for the hunting opener! I've taken off Monday- Tuesday to start, but come on! That could have been 4 days of hunting instead of 2... What would it cost them to be a tad more accomodating!?

It sure is going to be nice sitting up in my tree on the evening of Sept. 15th (and possibly the rest of the week).
It sure is nice to be in my last semester of college with a schedule hand picked for evening bowhunting.

*sniffle, sniffle* Oh wahhhhhhhhhhhhh.........You can make some of the people happy some of the time, but you can't make all of the people happy all of the time.......
Look at it in positive light man.......ESPECIALLY if you're hunting public ground, you're gonna be there pretty much all by yourself.
I took off opening day, and I'm also fortunate enough to work only 4 days a week, so I'll be at it all that first weekend as well. Depending on the wind, I'll be back at the river, or trying to cut off that mid 140's 11 point w/ a split G2.....I figure opening day is my very best shot at him....

Yea it sucks that i get every morning and evening to hunt. it sucks that i'll be in the stand first thing opening morning nd that i work and live less than 10 min from my hunting spots. and what really sucks is that i'm th bos and can pretty much take off any day i want.

Heck most of you Missouri folks on this thread are from central or northern Missouri I am from the bootheel. I have always wanted to ask yall how the bowhunting for you is during Sept.? Because down here it ususally sucks, hotter than hell, nothing moving. I don't start seeing alot of deer until around the end of the first week in Oct. I wish they would just push it back to Oct. 1st again and do it the weekend closest. But who am I to say they are doing alot of crazy things right now but I do let them know from time to time I don't agree with them and if by some chance I do I let them know then but that doesn't happen very often.
One more question for you folks do you like the Antler restrictions? I don't, there are alot of deer that will not grow to be an 8 point (on average that is what it takes to be a shooter) and they will contunue to pass on bad genes for anlter growth because they will not ever be legal. They should have at least started outby saying in has to be afork on at least one side and then went to 3 points on one side then to 4 point on one side and if each time if they see average buck size getting bigger they could in effect weed out the the small anlter gene but no they had to jump it all at once with 4 points right off the bat.I doesn't effect me right now and they told me they will never do it in Southeast Missouri but we will see. All they are tring to do is get more out of state hunters to buy tags and as more out of staters come in the leases in turn will sky rocket. Because whether it works or not they will say it is a success because they are never wrong and they want the money.
Sorry about the long post just wanted to vent.
