Well, to get to our property, first they have to drive by a dog run about 1/4 mile from the house where the dogs go beserk everytime someone passes either in a vehicle or on foot. Then there is my little buddy, Chantz, who is a trained guard dog (needed to have him for family safety in my previous line of work). Chantz is 90 lbs of pure "fun" for anyone who wants to get close. He starts barking at the sight of an unknown person vehicle. He was trained to approach both people and cars from behind and attack from behind. My property is posted accordingly to avoid liability. If they pull up and stay in their vehicle until the wife or I come out, they have no problems. If they get past Chantz, then my friends Benelli, Berretta, Springfield, Marlin, Winchester, Remington, and the foreign exchange student, SKS from Yugoslavia, will have their chance to greet them. At the other property, my professional permit keeps me company. No worries, be happy!
LOL your awesome i like the way you think lol. but seriously best of luck to you that has got to be a bad situation im sure it sounds like you got it allllll covered tho. good luck and keep us updated if you can i hope it all goes well for you.

If you have a concealed weapon carry it in with you. I always carry my glock 30 just in case I run into any punks. I would make sure you put up no trespassing signs on the property and bring your cell phone in case they do show up.

I just can't believe the nerve of somepeople, especiallyother hunters.

ALL you guys need to keep something in mind.....

SOme people have NO regard for human life or private property. They just aren't wired like "us". I talk a lot about the poaching neighbors I have. I even know in my mind that they stole a stand and a feeder from me, last year. If I saw one of them do it....I'd take care of it, myself. But....My wife and child sleep in the house with me.....and I could hit a driver and a 7 iron to their shack form my home.

The truth of the matter is.......some people are warped. The "McPoachersons" (as I like ot refer to them) have a close family member that did some time for throwing a "cocktail" at someone's house. ONLY reason it didn't catch fire is.....the lit rag fell out. That's real.

Just be careful.

People are crazy.

I was told early in my military career, that if you underestimate your enemy, chances of survival or winning in combat will be greatly minimized. Whenever I have been in any conflict whether militarily or on the civil side, I look at the worst case scenerio and determine my reaction with that in my mind. However, I have noticed in the civilian sector, most people do not do that. If this situation should ever come to a head, I will be prepared, however I doubt that they would.

Reference concealed weapons. It is illegal to carry a firearm here while bow hunting. But, I always have one reasonably accessable.

Reference cell phone: One of the first things I did when I purchased this place was add a speed dial for the local law enforcement and the DNR officer. I would recommend everyone do this. I put the speed dial number 7 for the Sheriff and 3 for DNR. 1 is for In Case Of Emergency, 2 is the wife, 4 my daughter, 5 my son, and 6,8, and 9 are my aunts (only one's left from that generation).

Call them back with a tape recorder. Tell them that you are sorry that they are no longer able to hunt that piece of property because you have exclusive hunting rights. At that point he will probably go off. Then ask him very directly, "what did you mean by starting something I would not be able to finish?". AFter he threatens you again, say "surprise mofo you are on candid telephone!".

I think taping someone on the phone without their knowledge is illegal and inadmissible in a court, unless you have a warrant to do so. So it may not do you any good other than letting the police know your not making stuff up. And from what I can tell your not the type they would discount easily.

Sounds to me like you got things covered though, I would just suggest you let the land owner know what is going on but you probably already know that as well.

Good luck, let us know if anything comes of it. While there are a good share of nut jobs around most are just talk. Never hurts to be prepared though.

You can legally tape any phone conversation from a landline (home phone). It goes way back to how landline phone callsused to beconnected by operators who would be on the line, so individuals should not assume any confidentiality from such calls. Thus privacy issues go out the window and these types of calls are legal to record and are admissable in court. Recordings of cell phone calls on the other hand, are not admissable in court. However, I'm not sure on the legality of the actual taping of cell phone calls.

Either way, this is a messy situation. Like others have already said, make sure you post the property very well and be sure to talk to the property owner to make him aware of the situation...the legal authorities as well. Maybe the local game warden would be happy to keep an eye out near the property for these losers as well.

You're right on the money GMMAT. There are some sick pups out there for sure. One other thing is, some guysare so warped that they might go as far as to call a person's bluff (some of these guys are real dumb) if a gun comes out. I'm a believer, if you're going to pull a gun on someone, you better be prepared to use it in some fashion. If not, they might justtake it off you and beat youwith it.Food for thought.
