Please lend your opinions of what pattern you prefer in the hardwoods using Gray Wolf Woolens camo.

Fall Brown and Brown Deception will be the most versatile IMO.

I agree with DC

From GWW if Predator Fall Brown is still available, it's a year around pattern. Grey is great for late season, not for early, spring is great for early, not for late and if Fall Brown is not available, Fall Deception.

You'd be able to use Fall Brown or Deception for turkeys as well. Year around patterns.

Let me also say that Jeff's Fall Grey will not be as "white" as what you would get from Cabelas. Atleast that was the case with the wool I had. Also, his fall brown seems a little darker than the original.

Personally, the Fall Grey was too light of a pattern for the areas I hunt. I suppose if you are hunting the sparse woodlots of the midwest it will be perfect for the most part.

Greg/MO will be on in a minute to tell you why Fall Grey will work just as well early as late and he may be right, but it still looks funny!

LOL.

I agree, in the Wolfskin, the white is not as white as on other material. Probably because the material itself starts out darker/different. Same as the brown. I'd imagine that's the same in wool. Don't get me wrong, love the grey but the brown and I have some incredible success both spring and fall through winter.

FALL GRAY is the best pattern I've ever used. I hunt from a treestand 95% of the time, so it fits my needs extremely well. I will say though - I believe Fall Gray is the best pattern ever, but the Intrusion Treeline is also an AWESOME pattern. In many ways I acutally believe Treeline is the best stand pattern ever made actually!

Everyone looks at Fall Gray like the first time I got my stuff something like 9 years ago. I opened the package and thought they had accidentally sent the snow camo pattern. It was so bright! The first time walking into the field in October wearing my Fall Gray suit I felt like an idiot. I was thinking to myself, if someone sees me wearing this suit now, they are going to think I'm nuts. Course, this was back when I still believed most of the marketing propaganda that the big camo companies have been shovelling for years.

That was nine years ago, and to this day, I still have people who look at our camo and just think we're trying to be different or something. They just don't get it I guess. It friggen works - really works! I was sold on the stuff within a single weekend while hunting back in the Michigan Public lands I grew up hunting. Deer stopped busting me, and even when they did look up - they didn't have a clue!

Fall Gray or Intrusion Treeline - the best patterns ever made!

LOL, DC!

I'll refrain from rehashing it... but you're right, with 99% of MY hunting, I'm in the treetops and the background is sky blue/white.

As noted, GWW's Fall Gray has a darker base than Predator's, which is pretty much white-white. GWW's FG is much closer to the traditional Fall Brown; it's really a great compromise between the two patterns.

Most of my thoughts on GWW's patterns can be found here:

Aw heck, Joel... I couldn't resist... I pulled this explanation from the link above.

Here's always been my explanation: If the pattern is universally deemed so great after the leaves have dropped and thebackdrop is predominantly bare limbs and bluish-gray, hazy skies -- thenhow much better will it peform when you add a bunch of leaves into the mix? The addition of a canopy of leaves only serves to helpany camoflauge pattern -- not detract from it. TakeANY camo pattern that can stand alonein a barrentree, and now add leaves into that equation... It's only going tobe better.
Go to the link though... there's some great pictures on there, if I do say so myself! [8D]

The camo junkie couldn't take it! Informative as always Greg....

Also, if I'm not mistaken, GWW is the only place you can still get Fall Brown?

Actually GWW is out of Fall Gray wolfskin right now. The suit I ordered this morning I got in Fall Brown.

Okay Todd, would hunt spring turkeys wearing Fall Grey?

He's buying ONE camo outfit, why purchase one that is seasonal?

I don't disagree that Fall Grey is outstanding, just seasonal even in Wolfskin. I'd like you to post a picture of your Fall Grey in Wolfskin please.
