I sat about 35 feet high in a tree last year to offset some terrain dips....even though I was only about 25 feet off the ground, I was 35 feet high in the tree. I will not do that again...too high.

i have a 25ft rope to pull my gear up and ive climbed with the bow and gear hanging from the rope a few times...didnt like it....but it was the only climbable tree in the area i wanted to hunt and it was WIDE open...heck, i think i was even dumb enough to adjust the top portion of my stand 1 notch tighter to level the stand because the tree thinned out...to top it off that tree was on the edge of the hill...about 200-300ft down before it was flat again...awesome view...because of the wind and location that was the only tree i had available..
usually right around 18-22ft

When I was filming we hunted the Bottoms (http://www.gallatinbottoms.com/) pretty often. Those boys love to go high, real high. The first time I filmed there, I told my hunter I was not going up, it was just too high. Well since he was a way bigger boy than myself and threated to beat me and field dress me, I went up. I hunt from 30 foot a lot and I know this was another 15 foot higher at least. I always hated going down there just because I knew how high they were going to have us.

I know none of you take a tape measure and find out how far up you are, but what would you say the highest youve hunted from is? Im not scared of heights to say the least, I'll go as high as needed, which brings reason for the thread.
I was scouting today and I picked my tree, but in order for me to be "over" the undergrowth.... I'll probably need to be APX 30ft. up. thats pretty high IMO. But it's the perfect tree...
would you go 30ft.+ up to have a good stand location?

we have a stand where there is a bunch of 25-30' trees in front of it blocking the view into the field(which is where we see the most deer) but the tree we built the stand in is giant! we measured this stand to see just how tall it was and to the floor of the stand its 38. 5 feet....................................just to add, we only gun hunt out of this stand, we would never dream of bowhunting it lol
