He will have time later in his life to get a big one, take the one you worked for.

I would put him out in a place with high traffic and then let him take the first slickhead that came by. At 7 years old, it will be difficult for him to sit there hours on end waiting for the right deer. Getting that first deer under his belt will be great for him. As he gets older, then it's time to target a certain deer or certain class of deer.

At 7 years old, it will be difficult for him to sit there hours on end waiting for the right deer. Getting that first deer under his belt will be great for him. As he gets older, then it's time to target a certain deer or certain class of deer.

I think a 7 yr old (that seems so young to me) would be happy with any deer...we can't hunt until we are 12 in MN.
I would justhave him shoot the first deer he gets an opportunity on.
