You cannot compare bear baiting/hunting to high fence hunting. Thats crazy!!
You are using artificial means (bait/fence) to get the game you are after.
Its the only fricking way to do it where I hunt!!!!!!! I stated earlier I've bear hunted for 17 years and I've been successful 9 of them 17 years. Do the math Bruce. High fence hunt, the stats would blow mine out of the water!
So, you're saying that if you had 5000 acres fenced where you bear hunt now, you could have killed a bear 17 out of 17 years without using bait?
Never said that, hell no I wouldn't be that succcessful! High fenced deer hunting is another story though. Come talk to me when you know a thing or 2 about bear hunting. Until then your words are down right degrading to any bear hunter out there who has no choice to hunt the way I do because of the terrain.
High fenced bear hunting would be OK but not high fenced deer hunting?

Since I should come talk to you when I "know a thing or two about bear hunting" does that mean you know a thing or two about high fence hunting? You are making a lot of claims concerning high fence hunting.

You don't think your words are degrading to someone that hunts high fence because they have no choice?
Come on up here and say that baiting is like high fence hunting and you will get blasted by a ton of Minnesotans and Canadians. I give up Bruce!! Go ahead and promote this high fence hunting, Its good for hunting anyway right. Do what you think is right, I don't care anymore.

Now we begin to see the root of our problems. I have hunted bears over bait and baited them, I also plan on hunting a hihg fence enclosure. If you plan on hunting Africa, you will hunt high fence. The problem is that we will continue to divide ourselves until we are conquered by the animal rights people. Plain and simple. Here's a question for you guys, how many of you hunt more than 100 acres? 500? 1000? 10,000? I hunt one place that is 20 acres between 2 subdivisions, am a somehow lower on the hunting totem pole because the 20 acres is about the only area that deer can roam? Almost high fence? Just 20 acres, mind you. The deer really follow a regular pattern. I bet most of you guys don't even hunt 500 acres, so what would you do in 5000? Let he is without sin, cast the first stone.

My hog hunt last July was at a high fenced operation. By far, the most physically strenuous (and dangerous) hunt I've been on.
One thing, I have noticed about wild hogs. If you give them room to escape, you will never get charged. If they get cornered, and push comes to shove, you can get ran over fairly quickly by hogs.
Never did get charged. But the hogs did have a nasty habit of staying put until you darn near stepped on 'em . Then they exploded out of the brush.Sounded like friggen Clydesdales galloping through the woods. It's amazing how well those pigsdo hide.

I will now place my answer to the question of my thread.

High Fence hunting is done to take an animal for many reasons. (as the posts tend to go)

Like many things in life, we all have differing opinions, likes and dislikes. Yet, to fence in the wildlife so that they can be hunted is kind of taking the definition of hunting away.

When you go,... if you go, on a high fence hunt, by all means enjoy yourself. If it is your definition of hunting, so be it. It is not mine. The freedom of the wild is what hunting is all about. Animals can and have been tamed. Some, not so much as others. Our ancestors never dreamed of fencing in the "wild" animals. Most, if not all, livestock at one time roamed freely. for "produce" purposes though, they were more or less domesticated to fields and lots. So, in closing, please be aware of what you are doing and be a good example.

I am OUT.

This should say," In my opinion ", instead of "Thats the DEFINITION of ", since you lack experience on 2 out of the 3 areas you are making the statement on.
Sliver, sliver, sliver....

Sir you missed the entire point.

When you view one form of legal hunting as "OK"....but turn your nose to the sky and condemn another form of legal hunting.......you've applied a "double standard". Insert whatever types of legal hunting you'd wish....for any game you desire.

The definition doesn't change.

Do you need a hunting license to "hunt" in a "high fence"???

Let me try and enlighten some of you as to how some feel ....

When it comes to the term, "restraint", there are many different kinds .... there is
Physical - fence, cuffs, rope, etc.
Mental - fear
ENVIRONMENTAL - this would be baiting, money, etc
Medical - drugs

All these constitute restraining in some way or another ...............

Like it or not...

BTW, I am not "against" either ...
