My wife wants to make a Christmas trip to Ohio to visit our nephew. Some of you may remember me asking for help getting that kid out hunting this season. Well its starting to look like I'll be doing it myself despite the offers a couple of you guys made, and thank you very much for those fine offers!
Now, where can I go in the Canton/Akron area? This is going to be a low budget trip so I'll need public land. Can any of you Ohio guys point me in the right direction? Also I haven't yet looked up the regs. Can I buy a NR tag over the counter? And can I bowhunt in late December? I'll have about a week to hunt.

Search the dnr site, find the zone you'll be in and make some calls to the office listed. They'll give out plenty of info.
If I remember right you'l be gun hunting. That's a whole different ball game here. We have a very limited gun season and everybody and their brothers uncle is out. If you go out in the a.m. before light expect to step on somebody. I'm not exagerating.
Musselloader season is a bit better. That's the last 4 days of the year.

Yes You can buy license over the counter, you'll have roughly $130 tied up in license and deer tag. As things get closer let me know what's going on. I hunt several of these tracts they are a bit further from Akron/Canton as I live virtually on the PA/Ohio line. Perhaps The Berlin Area is in the middle, never set foot on that area but there are some bruisers taken there every year.
