The only head I ever had problems with were the 100 gr Thunderhead.I had one get the back of a shoulder(I think) .The hit really looked good but couldn' t figure out why my arrow was hanging half way out.I found out about 30 yards down the trail. The broahead was twisted like a curly wing vane.I believe if the head would have stayed together properly that the arrow would have gone completely thru and given me a better opportunity to find the deer.

I bent a Vortex on a coyote......my opinion is don' t waste your money on them, pure junk. Same thing with Snuffers.
I shot a bear with a Snyper, complete passthru and the head buried 1/2 way in a tree. It' s still shootable. S friend of mine shot an elk, deer and coyote with a Snyper. On the elk, the tip blade bent, but he figured out that the BH stuck in the offside rib and as the elk ran, the shoulder bone pivoted back, hitting the shaft and bent the tip. The rib bone was chipped where the BH was stuck.

5Shot, have you tested the Sonoran expandable? I heard it was a real good head.

Not blasting, but I quit using the 100 grain muzzy' s 3 years ago because there is just no excuse for brand new out of the package heads and replacement blades to be as dull as the ones that I kept getting:(. No excuse at all.

What PA said. Ive lost blades on silvertips on three or four deer, nearest I could tell just from rib hits. Recovered all deer, but disgusting none the less. Theres a reason why there cheaper than others. I have noticed the tendacy for any mechanical, to snag one wing on anything in the way and be diverted severely off line. Cost me two p and y bucks this year. One a plumb branch about an eigth inch wide that was a foot from the deer. Grabbed a wing, and dove it straight down. Second time tried to shoot through very small amount of bluestem grass that was about the same distance from the deer. Same results. I noticed Ulmer mentioned the same thing in an article the other day. Needless to say all my mechs have gone to the trash heap, and have went back to the tried and true. Twice in one year is enough to make me cry, but also make a change.

Contrary to the experiences others have had on here I haven' t had any problems with Satellite broadheads.

I bought Satellite 125 Mag broadheads a couple of years ago when I got into bowhunting. Being new my criteria centered mainly on price and the availability at my local Wal-Mart. I have shot deer and coyotes with them and had passthroughs and quick kills on each one and never lost a blade.

I shot over a deer this past fall and hit about a 5 inch diameter tree dead on. It completely shattered my carbon shaft but I was able to pull out the broadhead and it was undamaged. I' ve never had one lose a blade on any shot and the only time I' ve had damage was one time a couple of years ago when my arrow was deflected by a small branch I did not see and struck an old tree root. One of the blades had a small piece break off the outside part where blade is cut out on the inside. The blades did not fall out of the broadhead though.

All of that said, I did just buy a half dozen Muzzy 100 grain 3 blades and a half dozen Rocky Mountain Snyper 100 grain broadheads to try this year. Mostly on the recommendations of the members of this forum and the results of the broadhead test I have read here. I' m surprised to hear of the complaints about the Snypers on this thread since they scored so well and were so highly recommended in the broadhead test but I guess that is just further proof that any broadhead can fail in some situations.

I had a bleeder blade shear off a Satellite Titan once, but after it traveled 100+ yards inside of a 9 point, I couldn' t blame it.
I shot and killed two deer with them before trying something else.
I don' t mind if I trash a head on a deer that I harvest, it' s a small price to pay for the thrill of the hunt.
With that being said, the last (only) two deer I' ve shot with rocket sidewinders required the blades be replaced. Once again, small price to pay.

The only head I' ve experienced what I would consider a failure with is a 3-blade Muzzy 125.
