Default im brand new help

my father recently gave me a bear whitetail II compound bow with a 28" draw lengthand a 60lb draw wieght its got a sighting system with four"screws(thats what they look like)" and a bar extending from the sighting system to the strings...even there i have 2 strings with these rubber flailing things on it...well u get the picture, what i am asking is how do i know the bows ability to perform. i know nothing about compund bows as i shot a longbow all my life and it didnt have all this "technology" on it. the length and wieght is perfect i love the way it feels i just need to understand the rest of it......any other info will recieved with great gratitude, thank you for yur time

Take it to a bow shop and have it checked out. Mabye get some lessons on shooting a compund if you need.

Give it back and go buy a new bow that's fit to you.

dabricksny--welcome. How old is the bowstring? You said you like the draw weight and length....what is your draw length? When is the last time your dad shot the bow? Is your dad willing to give you a hand in figuring out the small details of shooting a compound bow? Those are just some questions that might help you get started in the right direction.

And what bowtech said if you are able to...." Take it to a bow shop and have it checked out. Mabye get some lessons on shooting a compund if you need."

BEST of luck dbricksny...I really hope you get up and running with the bow before the season begins and that you have great success.
