Trust me, being a great shooter sure doesn't hurt.

Take 2 guys with equal skill sets as hunters and the better shooter has the advantage EVERYTIME. That's common sense.

Who is this guy you're talking about?..........You want me to call him out?
By the same token, take to guys who are good shots, but one gets lost in his backyard. Who do you want to count on for tenderloins?

Foam don't taste good.

Jeff, I've known some guys that are REALLY good at 3d that I doubt could kill a yearling doe on your property.

I guess these guys are like deer. No absolutes apply.

shooting a target means nothing when persuing a wild animal. it sounds to me that your friend is confident in his shooting ability but that doesn't mean he is able to get close enough to make one

I've always struggled shooting X's and dot's but whenI shootdeer, I zone out, sometimes I don't remember shooting but its always money. I've lost one out of about 50 deerI've shot. No, it doesn'tmake them good hunters.

Like I said.......if everything else is equal as far as HUNTING ability goes. The better shooter has the advantage 100% of the time. He can and will do things more consistently when the time comes to release that arrow.
That's not something that can really be debated.
The person who is the best they can be at ALL aspects of the sport is the winner.

Take mevs me as an example........I'm the same guy ,LOL, so obviously my opportunities and skill set in the woods will be the same.
But now put me against LEFT-handed me.
I've never shot a bow lefthanded so I'd probably suck at it.

All else equal I'm going to be a much better shot right handed so right handed me has a much bigger advantage as a hunter because I am a much better shooter than left handed me.

I hear so much of that same type of crap but in the OPPOSITE direction from guys in my archery club (BECAUSE they aren't as good at archery)
I hear about how THEy kill a buck every year or they killed this many or that many deer.........only to hear later because they left out the details that they wounded 4 that they never found, missed 5 others and finally recovered one to "Equal" what I did on the property with ONE shot.
So in THEIR minds they are equal hunters, and they do this crap every year.

Seriously, this is no lie. I had a conversation about this with one deer butcher in my archery club a few years ago about how 'Great" he is.
The same guy who missed 18........YES 18 shots that season.[:-](He also lost if memory serves me correctly 3 animals)
But he killed a 140" buck in Illinois that commited suicide so he was the "Better" hunter in his mind.

Give me the best possible shooter who hunts everytime.
