Winner’s Choice Ends Relationship With BowTech

John Day, OR – March 4, 2003 - Winner’s Choice Custom Bowstrings, Inc., a leading force in the manufacture of highest-quality custom bowstrings and buss cables, has recently announced that they have decided not to supply strings to BowTech, an Oregon-based bow manufacturer. Citing concerns about representations made regarding their strings, which are known worldwide for their exceptional quality, the owners of Winner’s Choice have elected to inform the buying public about their decision regarding BowTech.

" Quality is our stock in trade, and our reputation is built on it," explains Mike Slinkard, Vice President of Winner' s Choice. " Unfortunately, there is a misconception that Winner’s Choice is still supplying BowTech strings – we definitely are not. Winner’s Choice customers have come to expect a very high standard of quality from our strings, and we feel it is important to let the public know that we decided in January to stop supplying BowTech with strings,” Slinkard stated. “Hopefully by telling the public about our decision, we will help to avoid further confusion about the source of BowTech’s current strings.”

Tom Nealy, President of Winner’s Choice, explains the company’s motivation behind the change: “Simply stated, we were concerned about quality, and concerned that customers would be led to believe that another company’s string was in fact a Winner’s Choice string. We decided to avoid the possibility of leaving such room for confusion, and end the relationship. Though we hope that we will continue to have a dialogue with BowTech, our first concern is for our customers, and we feel compelled to tell them that the strings they will receive on their new BowTech will not be Winner’s Choice quality strings.”

Winner’s Choice is no stranger to offering manufacturers and bow customers high-quality custom strings. With a product that is guaranteed not to creep, stretch or separate, Winner’s Choice has quickly become the darling of string critics industry-wide. Citing the quality of the Winner’s Choice product, Archery Research (AR) has begun offering Winner’s Choice strings optionally on every bow. Forge Bow Company has also elected to offer Winner’s Choice strings as standard equipment on the company’s 2003 bows.

Winner’s Choice strings, which are constructed using a completely unique and revolutionary process, have long been praised for their high quality and durability. At this year’s Archery Trade Association show in Indianapolis, the company also introduced X-Coat, its new and proprietary wear reduction coating that has taken the industry by storm. Champion shooters and pro hunters alike, including people such as Dave Cousins, Dee Wilde, Duane Price, George Ryals IV, Cameron Hanes, Will Primos and Dan Evans, have all promoted Winner’s Choice for the company’s commitment to quality and innovation in the field of custom strings.

Why did Bowtech stop using Winners Choice strings???

Seems like a dumb thing for them to do.........unless they found a better string which is doubtful.

Hope they didn' t do it to save a few bucks because it looks like it could backfire on them....no pun intended.

There is a thread about this over on the Tech forum as well. Interesting stuff. I look forward to hearing Bowtech' s response to this.

...and I find it interesting that some other companies are going to be offering Winners Choice as option.

It still doesn' t clearly say why they stopped shipping to Bowtech. A lot of double talk around the question. Reminds me of a Clinton speach.

I spoke with Tom about the Bowtech issue last night when we were shooting and this morning in his shop. It is not my place to go into spacifics, but the decision was his to stop supplying Bowtech with strings. Tom, and winners choice, have many other opertunities to provide the best strings in the business.
