Now that everybody seems to hate Mathews - it kinda makes me want one.
I don't know anyone who hates Mathews. I know plenty that hate that handle.

Maybe you can get down to a 180 grain arrow to get those speeds you want out of a Mmmmm. [8D]
LMAO! I don't own one, but I've shot a few. Nothing special, IMO. I hear it quite a bit at the shop, about how great they are, how they can outshoot this and faster than that. Funny though, when they put their money where their mouth is, and we bust out the chrono.......Suddenly they don't want that mathews anymore. Truth, really.

I think they make a good bow, but I don't think they make a GREAT bow, and certainly not when you figure in the cost. But, I'll give them credit, they know how to sell a bow. I cannot tell you how many people I've seen come in, shoot a couple of the bows that we do stock (not a mathews dealer) and readily admit they like shooting the X brand better. BUT, my buddies all shoot mathews, the guys on tv shoot mathews, so that's what I'm gonna get. HUH???
Dude ... you know YOU want one ..... come over to the dark side

The grip is one the things about my bow I like the most. [&:] It's easy to draw, thats one thing I can't say for alot of the new bows I've shot lately.

That is interesting b/c I have been shooting a Mathews Ultra II for quite some time now (7 or 8 years) and haven't bought a new bow b/c I haven't come across a bow that has any advantage over the one I already have. I shot the GTO and although it claims to be faster, it was actually slower than my current set up and it was bare bones! I shot the General and it was significantly slower. I shot a few other bows and none could shoot 1 fps faster than my Ultra II. The draw cycles were smoother, but that is not enough for me to drop $800 on.

edit: fixed the quote.

Well I'll admit I've got absolutely zero knowledge of the Ultra II.....I'm just relaying what I've seen and heard first hand. I'm not bashing them at all, or trying to start a war. I do believe they make a good bow.
