RE: Military Veterans...Report
I'm surprised that there aren't more of us on herethat are still in.
I would have loved to stay in, especially consideringI could retire in just 4 more years very comfortably.
Being at sea all the time did not sit well with being 21, married for only 3 years and 2 babies at home. Had I stayed in, I doubt I would be celebrating my 16th anniversary this coming July 27th.
I was up for E-5 when I got out in 96, all I had to do was take the written test.If I remember right, the time required for pay grades,I would beup forMaster chiefright about now and a $10,000 pay raise.
Hind sight being 20-20 I look back often and wish like hellI would have stayed in.

For all to read, especially veterans I recommend:
Last Man Out: Glenn McDole, USMC, Survivor of the Palawan Massacre
Find it in your local library or buy it at a book store. As I already posted in another thread, Glenn recently lost his wife but he marches on. If you cannot find it locally, let me know and for the price of the book and shipping, I will get one from Glenn and ship it to you.
God Bless America, her people, and her ideals.

I saw this post and don't care to steal it, but I just want to say thanks to every one of you. I find myself thinking of you guys today as my son (Marine) is on the way home to visit for pre-deployment leave.
Thanks so much. May God bless you and may you enjoy life to its fullest as a reward. You deserve it.
