My 1st time in the woods every year usually is bear hunting in northern Minnesota. The smell of the northern woods is like no other. Its fresh and clean, nothing like the junk I breath south of there!

I usually just enjoy the peace and quiet, listening the the birds and the other various sounds of a dark woods. I contemplate will I or won't I shoot the first thing that lingers by, will I see Mr. Big this morning or will he EVADE me yet again!!!

Aside from being grateful to be there.I would be cinching the safety harness tight and shutting my eyes.It doesn't get any more peaceful than that.

My favorite hunting moment.

45 minutes? That's NAP TIME!
I love a nice nap in a treestand, ya'll know the kind, half sleep, ears perked for that first faint of whitetail crunch in the leaves. Damn, how long til opening day?

Tyler is the same way but more so in the afternoon hunts. The pheasants are him wake up call. The roosters start crowing when the deer start moving. I think he might have gave up on morning naps. He woke up to a salamander crawling across his face last year. [&:] Why he doesn't sit when napping I don't know... especially early season when the bugs, snakes and spiders are crawling all over.

I patiently settle in and wait for the moment of truth.
