RE: How many of you have arrowed a mature buck WITHOUT
I have killed several without the use of game cams and food plots however, ever since is started using these things, mainly game cameras, i have been harvesting more mature bucks than before.
It also has a lot to do with the ammount of time spent in the woods. Im hunting now a lot more than i was back in the day before i started using a trail camera... |
RE: How many of you have arrowed a mature buck WITHOUT
I killed my only mature buck using none of the previously mentioned tactics. I was however, huntingvia an outfitter (hope I don't get chastised for it[8D])that you must have to be able to hunt in Alberta. I will also mention that the only help I recieved from him wasgaining access to the farm I killed my buck on. I chose my stand site and hung my Lone Wolf climberin a spot I thought was good.
This guide is not to be confused with the one I'll be hunting with this year!;) |

I think using trail cams, food plots, topo maps, feeders, etc.. is a great big advantage. You can't tell me that knowing what's on your property and their routines(game cams), easily detecting property contours (topo maps) without having to walk through the area, and feeding the deer (food plots and feeders thateffectively keep them in your area)doesn't give you an advantage to knowing the habits and movements of the deer on your property......If it wasn't a huge advantage, people wouldn't do it and it wouldn't be a multi million dollar industry (camera, and food supplements etc...);)
Don't let anyone fool you PT, it's a huge advantage. I don't have a problem with any of it (as long as it's legal) and I my self have even been tossing the idea of a trail camera around in my head......why? because I know I'd have an advantage knowing when a certain deer moves through an area, where he's going and what time he comes back. Now I know not every one can get that much detail from every deer caught on camera but just knowing WHAT is on the property and the approximate times they're photographed is a huge help. There has been countlessposts of game cameras taking pictures of the samedeerweek after week, hell year after year for that matter! |

I submit that for every one hunter gaining this advantage.....you have 10 more smelling their woods up while checking to see what's "out there". Call me a skeptic. |

I have taken all of my bucks without the use of any of those things.

The pluses of came cameras far outweigh the cons. How many times have you seen the same deer posted time and time again? Heck you have shown us photos of the same deer on more than one occasion, if they were that spooked by your scent while you retrieve your photos, you wouldn't have them on camera so many times.;) I see LOTS of posts of the same deer day after day after day from normal every day folks tromping through the woods to retrieve their photos. |

I've never used any of those "tools", and have killed 3 wall hangers. BUT I know my area and I put some time in hunting, which out weighs the good that those tools might offer.
