for this thread, I was just looking to see what type of advantage ..... % wise, folks thought those things gave them
The only advantage I see coming from my trail cam photos is.....I know what "might" come by my stand. Does that keep me ON stand, longer?

Maybe

Ido wonder if doing it other than the way I have always done it (scouting), would diminish my accomplishment in my own eyes.
Would it diminish your accomplishment in your eyes if you shot it?
I don't know, Jeff ...... never done it that way ...... again though, hunting isa personal deal ......

In 06 I shot that mature 8 pointer withthe aid of only a call.
Yessir .... calling is as old as the hunt itself ...... outside of electronics, technology hasn't increased too much there ......

Jeff, do you think that your camera has influenced where you put your stand and maybe even stopped you from shooting a younger buck?

I have killed big deer both ways. I believe, done properly, baiting is a huge advantage. I have always taken more pride in the deer I took without baiting.

Heck no.

My camera STAYS on a mineral site. By the time the season rolls around....they're pretty much off the minerals, anyways....and I don't have a hunting stand site within eyesight of the site.

I'm severely limited on where I can hunt, anyways....due to a man made breakline (Parks system)....properties I don't have permission to hunt....and the actual size of the properties.

I basically hunt where I can....and go to the most productive spots I've learned through just hunting there.

On part 2 of your question.....I'm done shooting younger bucks. If I thought that was all the property held....I'd eat my tags. TOO many does for me to kill for me to feel any accomplishment (MY outlook) in just getting "A" buck.

You can't use bait here and game calls don't work but the only bait we can use is food plots which you never spend the time to make because they always dry up cause you can't get water up the hill to them and then you can use any minerals but they hardly every touch the deer co-cain so you pretty much just find a good trail and put a tree stand up but I do use trail cameras.

I follow your posts along with many other guys on here as ones that lays the horn on the ground consistently ...... I know you use cams somewhere ....so your answer shocked me ......can you please tell me when you use them and when you don't?

...the use of bait, game cams, and/or food plots????? I am talking about just good old fashion scouting and hunting using experience and sense ......

If you have done both, please tell me how much you believe your % has been upped because of said methods.
I have!

I never have hunted over a food plot unless you call normal agriculture afood plot. Never used Bait for Deer. Only used Game cams the last 2 years and even though it is Fun! I wouldn't say it's much of an advantage.
