RE: OMG Look at these bucks

There are I think like 50 deer farms in PA, and their fences get knocked down all the time from outlaws, storms and trees etc. A kid shot a monster in the Poconos last year that was a farm raised deer, and guess what, they accepted it for scoring etc. 190+" I believe. I'd rather hunt one for real not in a fence.

Theres a farm in Emporium, PA (friend of mine) who I know for a fact his fence got knocked down last year and something like 35 deer got out. The game commission fined him something like 250 a deer. He then asked if he was allowd to go dart them to get them back. The game commission told him once they are out of your pen they belong to game commission. This farmer then asked if one of those deer kills someone in a car accident, and has my tags in its ear, whos liable. The game commission told him he is(the farmer). But the farmer argued now you just told me they are your deer now. Funny how the system works.

I say we pitch in and buy one to release in PA, let him breed a bit than move him to another state[8D]
Are you kidding? That deer would never make it to breeding season. He'd be in the back of a pickup first night out in a field.

It's amazing how big some of those 1.5 and 2.5s are. Strict genetic control, enhanced diet and mineral supplementation, some special "viatamins", and you've got yourself a super buck. I wouldn't "hunt" one, but they are fun to look at.

Let it be none I am 100% against what they are doing, but this is America.

They said their goal is to have the first 500'' buck[&:]

I don't wanna hunt 'em either. I turned down the opportunity to go shoot a 150" "cull" buck from this farm.

I can't imagine. I almost went.....just to look......but didn't think my heart could take it.

Being the sell them you would not have to turn it down. From the looks of them 150'' buck is a 1.5 or 2.5 year old buck.

I think the sell them to game ranches Jeff

I am against hunting them as well. I would never hunt something that wasnt fair chase. Thats not hunting, thats killing. However, I do know several deer farmers, and I do know this is their lively hood and how they make a living. Not all these farms hunt their deer. Semen straws go anywhere from 500-10,000 dollars a straw! Thats how they utilize the genetics etc. I cant bash them for making a living farming, but I would never hunt in a fence.

Huntingbry : Unless you consider the guard rail along 422 in Limerick a fence ;)

??????????????????

It was a free hunt, Gary.

If you're growing 200" 1.5 yr olds.....a 150" wouldn't raise your pulse......but I'm betting they get good money for them from paying customers.

Put it on a man's wall......and who (gen. public) would ask?

Doesn't matter. I'd know. I wouldn't trade the 7-pointer I shot as my first....that went 70" or so.....for any of them.

Wow, I wonder what they shoot them up with. All of that 1.5 year old livestockare bigger than the average wild 2.5 year old here - and we have as good genetics as anywhere.

Amazing. But in the end, its just livestock. Been doing that type of thing with cattle for years.
