Why not break the cycle and teach them the CORRECT definition?

I agree with most here. IMHO, a yearling is a 1.5. I would call it a fawn.

Obviously you can do whatever you want, but calling a fawn a fawn is not polically correct it is just correct. Obviously it isn't going to change the rotation of the earth, whatever anyone calls them

We call young deer without spots yearlings,just the way it is in m neck of the woods,if it's wrong then I'm wrong don't relly give a crap what anyone else says,just like some people in some states call the evening hunt last nidght,the first time I heard this on a hunting show I said what the hell,did he just say we saw this deer last night just couldn't get a shot,I thought damn them boys are hunting at night ain't that illegal? wE ALWAYS SAY YESTERDAY EVENING.

I call it a fawn until next year when it becomes a yearling and I call it a young doe or meat.[8D]
