RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
Just compromise and go with both...shoot FMJs!;)
Whats that saying....oh yeah, best of both worlds. |
RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
Aluminumsrarely explode on release. You've all seen pics of carbon's that have done this. I like the peace of mind. JMHO

RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
Aluminums are usually easier to tune than carbons. They have a wider spine range than carbons. They're more consistant in weight and spine than carbons. And they're VERY durable if you use a heavy enough shaft. They also cost alot less than carbons.I do shoot both ,though

RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
If your dad is happy with aluminum, then leave him be. Maybe if you shut up and quit badgering him about it, you might learn something from him. Believe it or not, he just might know something you don't. Couldn't have said it better than Arthur P if I tried. |
RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
I used aluminum for my first two years of bowhunting, then switched to pultruded carbon, then internal component (modern / current) carbon shafts. I really like the CX Maximas. I won't go back to aluminum.

RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
I've been in and out of carbon phases. But always go back to aluminum. I do want to try extreme FOC arrows though this year and carbon is about the only thing that can be used.

RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
I've been using carbon for 5 years, and this year....I changed back to aluminum.
Aluminums may bend, but as mentioned, they can also be straightened. This old wives tale of carbon arrows either being good or broke just ain't true. You can shoot the spine out of carbons quite easily. Smack a couple together hard, and you just may have. If you notice your accuracy beginning to go down the tubes.....This is likely the problem. Like virtually anything else in the archery industry, they both have good and bad. Nobody is right or wrong for shooting either/or. Whatever makes you happy, enjoy. |
RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
I think both sides in this debate are over doing their pros as well as playing up the cons of the opponent. I’ve never had an issue getting any of my carbons to fly well with a fixed head. Going thru 4-5 dozen arrows to find a few that shoot well, sounds a bit absurd. Either the carbons were all manufactured by 3rd graders, or the shooter was beyond world class and wanted every arrow to be within an 1/8” POI @ 60 yds.
I still shoot a mix of carbons & alums, but mostly carbons. I doubt I’ll shoot either one exclusively. Used in the right application, both make an excellent arrow material. |
RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
I have been using carbon's for about 4 years now and I am switching back to Aluminum this year.
I like the penetration I get with themand they just seem to fly better out of my rig..............plus they are cheaper.;) |
RE: is anyone still faithful so aluminum arrows?
Either the carbons were all manufactured by 3rd graders, or the shooter was beyond world class and wanted every arrow to be within an 1/8” POI @ 60 yds. And remember this... Someone with a 33 1/2" draw can throw a jab straight to your nose before you can ever get in close enough to do the same. So watch who you're calling 'absurd.' [8D] |
