Default Does anyone have Liability Insurance for hunting?

Hey all,
I was looking into applying, through my township, for a piece of private land to hunt on. They allow archery onlyand the pieces of land are highly sought after by many applicants. Luckily my township grants permits tohome town residents before granting permits to out of towners. However, before allowing an applicant to submit their application, you must show proof of 1million dollars of liability insurance coverage.
I've been looking into clubs like the NRA and stuff, but they only seem to be offering 10,000 of coverage through memberships.
Does anyone know of a club/hunting resource through which I could obtain 1mil. in insurance by a cost of membership, or something along those lines?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Forgot to mention, I'm a poor, poor college student. So any way to save a dime while trying to get 1,000,000 of coverage would be greatly appreciated. For instance, like an insurance company allowing me to only purchase coverage during the months of the hunting season, so I don't have to pay a monthly tab all year long. (I haven't stumbled accross a company willing to do this yet)

I own an insurance agency and can tell you the request for $1 mil. of liability coverage is quite common. I leased the farm next to mine and simply added the leased property to my existing farm liabiltiy policy. There are carriers out there that specialize in hunting lease coverage. You can do an internet search or call your local agent. It varies by state. Good luck.

I have heard of required liability coverage, but usually hunt clubs where they have paying members. That way if a guy gets hurt falling from a tree stand or shot from his buddy, they are covered. If I get injured on the property I lease, technically the landowner is liable...thats why I sign a waiver.

I have never heard of required liability coverage for an individual, on leased land, without the option to sign a waiver. This way if you get hurt, use your own insurance card at the ER!

Look in the magazines, such as NRA Hunter,I know there is one Managing General Agent who advertises all the time, for Hunt Club Liability Insurance.Do a google search on the Philidelphia Insurance Company, call them and ask them to recommend an Agent in your area.Call the agent that provide either your Automobile Insurance or your parents coverages and see if they can be of any help to you.
If those avenues don't work PM me.

Get ready to come up with a few hundredbucks there poor college kid. I've never had to have it or know of anyone that has. I've had to sign 7 page releases that spelled out everything from stands, to gutting deer to access. I'd look for some public ground and go hunting before I'd buy insurance. As an example... well hell I'm not going into the example. I will tell you we just had to pay $300 for some "Event Insurance" to protect a landowner for 3 days. If we had bought the policy for the year it was $1700. This was in with regards to our hatchery operation and stocking the fish.

Hunt somewhere else, that's a total crock of sheit. There's no way a bow hunter could cause $1M in damage, they're just trying to weed out the irresponsible ones.

You say it's private...then sort of elude to the township owning it.

Big difference in NC as to how that's handled.

Which is it?

I'm no insurance expert....but I'm guessing us homeowners could have some sort of rider attached to our homeowner's policy. Your dad "may" be able to have something similar done for you.

It would only take a call to your/your dad'sagent to find out.

Good luck.
