A serious bowhunter:
Has antlers hanging in his kitchen
Thinks camo is church clothes.
Thinks PETA stands for people eating tasty animals
Quits his job because he can't get vacation during hunting season.
Buys his wife a bow stand for Christmas
His 4 seasons: pre rut, rut, post rut, off season
Doesn't own a butt removal tool or a cough suppressor
Women ask him : is that a grunt call in your pocket or are you happy to see me?
Always has hunting gear floating around in his truck.

Feel free to add to the list!

When company comes over for dinner....they break out the hang-on treestands for extra seats at the dinner table.

It all just depends on what your priorities are in life and what you can do with them within reason. We all have different responsibilities to what order that they should be placed in. If I could hunt and fish 24/7 then by golly I would DO it! If I could buy 10 scouting cameras than I would DO it! If I could.....

Well you get the picture.

There are some people who take it seriously and there are others that just do it to get out and enjoy family, friends, and time away. Not a bad question at all IMO!

I just posted an article about this on archerytalkblogs.com. If anybody wants to check it out it's titled "What It Means To Be A Bowhunter". My user name on there is bigbearsarcheryas well. If anybody does read it let me know what you think, good or bad. I'm trying to hone my writing skills and I could use some input.

when someone at the beach says "look at that rack" he looks around for a buck

Has a $500 truck and a $1500 bow

spends more time at his taxidermist then at work

Has his taxidermist on speed dial

took his family photos off his desk to make room for the trail cam pics

talks to his deer mounts

reads a book to and tucks in his bow every night.

What is a "serious bowhunter"? Anyone whosuccumbs to anoverwhelmingcompulsion to overcomplicate theabsurdly simple for noapparent reason, and then obsesses over it for at least 10 pages on a forum. ;)
