Im Glad BloodCreek brought this topic up.. Id like to get one.. perhaps for the next holiday season.. which model do you guys have and recommend? are bags cheap? can you use any old bag? or do you have to buy the specific bags.. thanks..

specific bags, but you can re use them if you want. I usually freezer wrap my deer then put various packages together, then vac seal. When I open them up I can reuse the bag until it gets too small to use.

RE: vaccum sealers for venison
ya no kidding i stoped vacuming my meat that i will not keep longer then a month went back to ziplocks i swear every other bag has holes in it when i get my deer freezer i will make sure everything is layed out where i will not need to dig in to get to that one cut of meat i want
ORIGINAL: jmbuckhunter It's the only way to go Blood!!! But you do have to be carefull rooting around in your freezer. If you put a hole in a bag, it's no longer vaccum sealed.;)And frozen meat clanking together can make a hole in a hurry. |

RE: vaccum sealers for venison
We do use them, but they are so slow. We mainly use it for early season archery deer we shoot. During our gun season, we harvest about 14-20 deer a year, at one time, so we dont have time to use our foodsaver.

Nothing better for keeping meat/fish/veg. I think it is a must have applicance for outdoorsman. You will not lose any meat to freezerburn and the flavor also stays the same. Go get one!!!

ORIGINAL: whitetailbowhunter ORIGINAL: Matt / PA Our entire group has been using Foodsaver vaccum sealers for wow.....maybe 15 years or more? I think to a man we ALL have one. I don't know how you can do without one if you want to keep meat and fish, and even veggies ect fresh for extended periods of time. If mine suddenly stopped working I would seriously go out and buy a new one the very next day. Nothing worse than losing good eats to freezer burn. :( |
RE: vaccum sealers for venison
mine was the top of the line model from food saver 129.99 plus bags plus the vacum containers you get they also do three months same as cash for everyone
