My turkey season started today. I talked to the guy who was going to take me hunting. He told me that the area had massive winter kills. He said he heard of at least 80 birds in the area that were found dead. He didn't see any turkeys during his hunt. I did some scouting a few weeks ago and found very little sign of birds. now he doesn't want to go. And to make matters worse I'm in the middle of a fence building project with my dad. [&o] I'm going to get out sometime this week but things don't look good.

I almost ran over a hen yesterday in dads hay field. We also found a nest along the fenceline where we are working. I might give it a try by my dads place.
