RE: if you could hunt one animal for the rest of your life
I have another Elk trip that I want to take soon. I have hunted them with a rifle with the ex father-in-law but he had a guide that was more worried about filling our tags than getting a big Elk. I might drop Deer from the list if I lived out West. Elk are one tasty animal and I have none in the freezer[:-]

That's an easy one. Nothing like hunting Bull Elk!!!! I guess you can tell what part of the country most of the viewers on here are from.

Definetly elk.I haven't hunted every animal there is to hunt butit would be hard for me to imagine a more exciting hunt than elk during the September rut.
White tail deer just don't come close. I would give them up in a heart beat.
Doesn't matter where the deer live. Most every one on this board are from East of the Rockies and a vast majority of those are from the Mid West. Deer is what they know. Nothing wrong with that but it is what it is.
So far out of every one that has posted and lists where they are from only one person is West of Minnesota.

Not really considering the whitetail's range is coast to coast and from Mexico to Canada

I would go with elk until my legs wouldn't do it anymore and then I would go with whitetails. That being said there are a lot of NA species I have not had the chance to hunt yet so who knows??? Big horn sheep sure seem amazing. Maybe I would go with them if I knew what I was talking about
