Default An ending to my Shed Hunting Season...

As it quickly becomes green here in northern Illinois.. I have officially ended my shed season in 08'. With 21 sheds.. 4 matched sets.. some well documented bucks.. some not.. 1 dead buck... over 140 hours on foot... some 120+ miles.. several thorn infections.. 2 ticks.. a rather excited skunk.. and my wife's first find.. (sort of).

Hunted this buck throughout 2007.. found his match 100 yrds. from our only encounter. Justin recovered his 2006 left side this past weekend.

There's more.. I suck with this uploading stuff...[:@]

These are all the matched sets I found this shed season (minus a smaller set).

Top 2 found less than 3 ft. apart in bedding area.
Middle 2 found nearly 1 mile apart.. 1 on edge of hayfield.. other in corn field.
Bottom 2 found 150 yards apart.. older sheds.. 1 in bedding area.. one on edge of cornfield.

These 2 antlers were found about 1 month apart.. nearly a mile in between. I embedded the left side antler into the pic. since I have it from last years shed season. Look at the jump from 2 to 3 yrs. old. Should be a good one this fall!

This shed was found about a mile away from where Justin took this pic. of this buck in late summer near an apple tree. Shed was recovered in bedding area about 200 yrds. off a hayfield.

Lastly.. one of my favorite sheds from this yr. found on one of Justins pieces of ground.

The genetic make-up of the herd Justin and I hunt to some degree is un-canny. They almost all have the same characteristics.. mostly 9 pointers.

Not as much as you might think wahoo.. Justin and I just do our homework. In fact we rarely even hunt these areas.. we travel mostly to much further destinations.. but we have a pretty good area to shed hunt on.. kinda has a poor genetic make-up though.
