ok....well how is the population of giraffes in Africa? over populated? disasterous to the ecosystem? I don't know, I just had never seen someone shoot a giraffe, it just took me off base for a bit, posing with a giraffe, it just doesn't seem logical to me, but, it there is a need for it, then I guess Im wrong, and I have no problem with conceeding that at all, Im wrong a lot. but a giraffe?? just never heard of it before.

Black bears, Turkeys, Elk, Pronghorn, Sheep, and onand on,aren't overpopulated or disasterous to the ecosystem yet we can, and do, hunt those. How many folks in Africa have heard of whitetail deer?

I don't have a problem with it. It's not something that I would want to do though. Must of the meat on those hunts are given away to the villagers. So I would say that there is a good chance that it probably helped feed some people and didn't go to waste. I know when my dad went back in the early 70's they gave most themeat to the villagers.

A buddy here in PA took a Giraffe with a bow last year........he said it was one of the hardest animals he's tried to hunt (And he's killed Mt. Goats, and Sheep and a bunch of African game) He had to build up a custom 1000gr arrow for the hunt.
He actually made 3 trips to Africa to get it done......something about them being 20ft tall and no cover and trying to stalk them.
He got his on a spot and stalk hunt.......it would be like trying top sneak up on a guy in a treestand with no other trees around to hide behind. LOL
The Trophy fees are what keep the area alive, and the meat is all consumed by villagers. NOTHING goes to waste.
