What kinda arrows do you guys use for hunting and why? I shoot a 101Airborne @29" 70# Recommend something for me. I had some heavy arrows I shot through the cronograph @285 ...,.??? yes 285. So I went to the pro shop to discuss arrow and speed,...long story short He sold me a few GT Ultralight 400 now the bow is shooting 318.....However I am finding that (though still within kill zone) I am shooting all over the dang place!! and according to standard I should be shooting 5 grains per pound:
5x70=350 right my arrow is 29.5"
29.5x7.4 (gpi for ultralight) =218.3+100 gr. tip=318
318+25 gr. for 3-4" duravanes=343 + whatever the insert and knock weighs.......Isent that cutting that to close and will I have penetration problems using a rage 2 blade......alright I know im a freak but this is realy eating at my nerves. Mabey go a little heavier to a GT Pro??? or what do ya think of the Radial X weaves? I used them with my Tomkat and they shot well

Ok for starters your pro shop guy is an idiot the 400's are way under spined for your set up you need some 340 or even 300 spine arrows. He should have known this if he was a decent shop guy.

On a hunting set up I LKE HEAVY ARROWS....In the 450+ range, I would rather have the KE than speed....In the past I would take several different weight arrows and test them to get the most KE I could out of each set-up. As you know more speed doesn't always mean more KE and more weight doesn't always mean more KE you have to find a happy medium in there somewhere. and for my last set up it was 440-460 grain.....Good Luck
