How high do you climb?
I recently read a article in "Bowhunting" magazine, debating the correct height, in which a hunter should be perched up in their desired tree. Some say 30 feet, some say 8 feet is plenty. The point is, the higher the hunter is placed, the more thehunter is able to get away with. His scent is no longermuch of an issue, extra movement can be accepted. The downside to climbing up with the squirrels, is that your shooting angle is greatly increased and decreasesthe entry for a effectivevital shot. Now, if you get to low scent is becomes a huge factor, along with movement must be minimal, wind direction, etc. You get the idea.
With that, what do you prefer? And just how high or low do you go? Just curious... |

RE: How high do you climb?
I stay as low as I can. I like the shot angle better and I'm not afan of going real high. The situation usually dictates my height. Most often I will be between 12-20 ft. In most cases the higher you go the more limbs are in your way. I have been doing more and more ground hunting. I can be more mobile and I hate clanging thru the woods with those noisy climbers.
