I have permanent stands set anywhere from 10'-27' depending on my locations. I have gone 35 in a climber. H

The point is, the higher the hunter is placed, the more the hunter is able to get away with. His scent is no longer much of an issue,
I did forget to mention how I really enjoy this line. I guess that their are no thermals where this author hunts.. and/or you forgot to mention that.

Absolutely well said! I dont see where people believe this eliminates there smell! IMO... it almost makes sense to me that the higher up you are the farther out the wind can carry your scent, just speaking here.

Most often between 15-20 ft. Lower if I can't find a tall enough tree w/o low limbs.

In some cases it is true though. Scent can never be eliminated no.In the morning the thermals are goin to be going up taking your sent up and away. However the more important thing about height is it gets you out of a deers line of sight and perifrial vision more allowing you to move more and draw easier on them. I personally like it higher. Higher the better for my tastecuz I can see more and feel less like im sticking out naked in the woods and allows me to look around and move more when I have those darn does at close range. Makes me less nervous and gives me confidence to do thigns without bein seen so easily. WCL

I go about 10-20 feet. I would go higher but I have said before the first time I was ever hunting by myself my stand broke and I came tumbling down the tree. So 20 feet is plenty and I error towards 10 most of the time :D

Well put. There is no cut and dry correct answer. The situation should dictate the height.

I'm not a fan of nosebleed heights so I usually stay between 12' and 25'. It's hard to get real high where I hunt anyway because the understory is pretty thick.
