How many male turkeys? How many antlered deer?
#31
Through comparison of people's success rates on deer (antlered) vs. turkeys over their hunting career, with a bow, Jeff is trying to prove to himself that he was right in assuming that it is harder to take a turkey with a bow than an antlered buck. (Hell of a run-on sentence there. Lol)
That is right, is it not Jeff?

I don't care if I'm "right" or not. I'd like to know if my assumption was correct. I'm just curious.
This turkey thing is tough....for me.....here. I don't know how it is where everyone else hunts.
Hence my question(s).

Sorry Jeff. I got a little carried away with the run-on sentence. I believe I understood what you were after though.
Turkeys are some slick devils they are. I have never hunted them, but I have been around them quiet regularly in the woods, and they are sly.

I've killed 11 turks
I've killed 6 antlered deer
I've been bowhunting them for the same amount of time.
Killing a mature deer, with a bow, is more difficult... I'm not sure how that's an argument.
Let's equate a 140" deer to a 10" bearded tom... there are A LOT more people that have killed a 10" beard than a 140 class whitetail (assuming they've hunted them the same amount of time). Turkeys are intelligent, but they're not as difficult as some people make them. I feel 80% confident that if I can find a big bird in an area that I can hunt, I'll kill him. The same doesn't go for deer... You can't watch a deer fly into the tree and go set up 50 yards from him, drink your coffee and wait for him to fly down.
