Default Anyone ever shoot a Killdeer? EDIT: They're hatching!!!

Neither have I, but in this case, it's tempting. My driveway is 100 yards long. My target is at the house and I have markers down the drive to 80 yards. Right at the 60 yard marker, which is one of my primary practice ranges, Killdeer have built a nest in the driveway. At 50 yards, they chirp and twitter like crazy. At 60 yards, they're right at my feet feigning injury to lure me away and squawking like mad. It's impossible to concentrate.

Of course, I'd never hurt them, but I'll sure be glad when those eggs hatch! I'm attaching a few pics I just took from my 60 yard marker for anyone who doesn't know what a Killdeer is. This is the one guarding the nest and squawking like you wouldn't believe:

We had a few nesting in our garden, last year. My dad had to till around it, and yes they are very annoying.

Yep. Very annoying, especially when you're test shooting broadheads at 60 yards and you're only backstopis your pricey bag target you really don't wanna punch a broadhead hole in.

I've had those in my driveway too. What is really annoying is when you like to sleep with the windows open at night. They twitter and chirp all night too.

We always called them "Sandpipers".....I didn't know they we're called "Killdeers"?

One day we went to the local Diner in town for a Car Cruise and there was one of those Killdeers with a few small babies running around the gravel parking lot off the side of the main concrete parking lot....my youngest Daughter asked if she could try to catch one of them and I said "OK".Well she chased the babies all over the lot and we all had a good laugh as she tried her best...well we started talking about old cars amoung ourselfs again when a few minutes later my Daughter walked up with one of the little babies cuped inside her little hands! [&:]We all had a good laugh and I had her release the baby back to her Mother!
