Vabow: Having shot a few of the bowtechs now, I don't think they'll ever build another hunting bow that trumps the Allegiance. It's a damn fine hunting bow. Good size, speed, draw cycle, bh, etc...

I'd have bought one in a second, but I thought they were (and still are) unfairlyoverpriced.

However, if you're looking to save some cash - look into the HCA Iron Mace, which is essentially a clone of the Allegiance, with (in my opinion) better strings and much better limbs. Speed and draw cycle are almost a perfect match. High Country had a deal going (and I think they still do) called the "Average Joe Shooter Program" where they were selling new bows (MSRP $700) for $530. Over $500 is still a lot of bling to drop on a bow, but compared to the nearest competition, it's a steal. That's where I got mine, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

If you're interested, shoot me a pm and I'll give you allthe contact info or anything you need. I think the Joe program is still around.

Fantastic craftsmanship on the bow too.

That's a ton of money you have to spend on a new bow! For that amount if you go to the classifieds on AT you will be able to buy any bow you want! My advise is go to as many shops and shoot as many bows as you possibly can, there are so many great shooting bows out there! "thats what I did" Then watch the AT classifieds close and you'll be a happy camper!
I just bought a new DXT off there for $650 shipped to my door, talk about a smooth drawing, light, sweet shooting little unit for hunting!

Good luck!

By the way that High Country looks SWEET! Sure would like to try one of those babies out, what a great price also!

Just food for thought.

I was in your shoes at the beginning of the year. I looked at several bows and shot several of them. When it comes down to the final wire, it really doesn't matter what brand you go with. What is comfortable to you, seems to be the most important aspect when finding a gem. With all the new technology that is engineered in the new line of bows, there is not going to be one that is better. Initially, all the IBO's are very comparable. I purchased The General ($845 out the door with Extreme sights, d-loop, upgrade camo pattern, and a few sticks) I tell ya, I couldn't be more pleased! It's smooth, quiet and most important it felt comfortable to me!

The Katera was nice....Drenalin didn’t feel right...Switchback was a close second...Truth2 and Reflex felt awkward to me...

One other thing to add....

Spend the extra cash and get what you want. Buying a new outfit willlast the next ten years.
