Cops in general are afraid of just about everything so I'm not surprised they were so scared thatthey killed the cat out of cowardly fear.

. He doesn't wear a vest because it is comfy in the summer time. He has more courage in his pinky than 100 people that would call him a coward [:@]. What a sorry, pathetic statement to make about the people that put their lives at risk for our benefit.

Some of these responses are ridiculous. I too, would rather the animal not be killed. But what if it hopped a fence and the yard was filled with little kids, who knows what could have happened?
They did what they had to do!

You can't just follow a cougar (or much of anything else) around up there. The cops were lucky to have even cornered it for as long as they did.
Imagine the outcry the police would face if they willingly let it escape and the lion attacked some kid a day or two later. The cops acted as best they could (other than lots of missed shots).

+1 !! One of my buddies is a State Trooper and he has been threatened more than a few times because he arrests DWI's. The people threatening him own the bars

One of my best friends is an officer and works for part time for several localities around our hometown. I've met many of the officers he works with and feel better knowing the kind of people that work to protect us. To top it off, many of the officers in my area are also huge outdoorsmen/women and I have had the opportunity to fish with several of them as well. The majority of officers are very hardworking, down-to-earth, good hearted people and they work to protect us. Show some respect!
