Cougars are pretty much spread all over the U.S.
Not a shock at all that they have them in Chicago.
We have lots of them and Bears in Oklahoma.

I have seen Cougars in the wild in Southern IL. They are few and far between, hardly an everyday happening.

Maybe one was on the Northern fringe of his range. Well you can't go any further North in IL.

They have been sighted in michigan since i was little and until recently the dnr would even acknowledge they could be in michigan

I live about an hour from Dan, and we have reports of cougars every year in the newspaper, but no solid evidence to back it up. I believe there are a few around southern IL.

BTW, was anyone else expecting this story to be about a 45 year old woman that was targeting college guys?[8D]

Cops in general are afraid of just about everything so I'm not surprised they were so scared thatthey killed the cat out of cowardly fear. As hunters we know that surrounding and baying up the cat would have been enough until a biologist was dispatched to tranquilize the animal.
