Well, just got off the phone planning a turkey hunt with my future father-in-law. Sounds like fun, huh? I'm actually not looking forward to it. The guy is a great turkey hunter. Every year he consistently puts down a gobbler or two in the fall and the spring.I don't know if I canattribute that to him being a good turkey hunter or the fact he uses a "snipered" up .223! [&:]

Anyway, I'm talking to him and he tells me he clean misses a bird this morning at 250 yards and so does his nephew who also uses a"sniper rifle".Usually, he aims for the neck and downs them everytime. I told him I was bringing the 12 gauge and not my .223 cal. He says, "Well, we'll have to get them in pretty close since you're bringing that. They are pretty spooked right now." I'm thinking yeah I bet sinceeveryone isshooting at them.

I'm sorry but wheres the fun shooting a bird so far away? I wanted to hunt together to spend some "bonding time" together but I'm thinking I just want to go off by myself and do my own thing now. Good thing I decided not to bring my bow. That would have been unheard of! There are other things in the deer woods that I don't agree with but I bite my tongue.

My fiance knows I don't agree with his hunting style. She understands what type of hunter I am. I'm lucky to have her.:)

Sorry fellas, just needed to get that one off my chest.

Good news though. My dad and I are going Friday morning.
Ducsauce- I feel you on this one. I am on my second marriage and luckily my current father in law is more worried about chasing MILFs then Deer. My first father-in-law, well that is another story.

Hunter Hank knew everything about hunting and was never underpowered in the woods. He hunted deer with a .30-378 even though it was his "Elk Gun". He took any shot he could get on a deer and frustrated the heck out of me every time a gutshot deer needed to be found. You could never tell the man a word about hunting because he was the expert. He got us lost in a swamp in Northern Wisconsin with his GPS because he only locked on to two satellites supposedly and used a million candlepower to get through the woods.

I look back and I know he meant well and took me on a couple of great trips but what I will remember most is going to be the title of a book that I want to write one day "Everything I know about hunting wasn't because of my Father-In-Law"

If you ever need to vent feel free, I have been through it!!!

No thanks. I have zero obligation to him. If I never see mine again I will be just fine. There are certain things you can't change in life, just like the Serenity (sp) Prayer says...its those things I choose to say away from so they don't drag me down as well.

Given the chance id do it.

If it was legal around here, and I had two tags so I could still shoot one with the bangstik or bow.

I gotta try everything once...
