Staunchly believe in what they are doing and don't care much how others see them. You have to admire that at some level.
This is pretty selfish if you ask me.
Re-check your definition of selfishness.

RE: Tred Barta question

Good post I like his show and I like the fact he cares more about the hunt than killing somthing I am guilty of that does he offend me with the barrter way no it is deffenitly his way lets all hope.I watched a show the other day where he was catching baby bluefin tuna.He was saying the weights and he was sand bagging big time he said 150 more like 50 or 60.I know this cause I use to catch 30 or 40 bluefins that dressed over 500lbs every sumer it was my job to look at them and know there weight so thats crap.At the begining of the show he said he s caught more big eye tuna than any man alive thats crap I have alot of comercial fishermen freinds from montok N Y that fish for those and are the best.Plus if he had caught more than any man alive I would have heard plenty about him before his show.As a profecional fisher men for 27 years looking at him fish he is what we call a googan sporty so if he s as good of a hunnter as he is a fishermen lucky he could find the tent flaps in the morning. Will I whatch his show yep I like it .Oh and small bluefins are very delicate I wish he would unhook them in the water and let them go because it would suprize me if any of the ones he let go didnt go to the bottom as crab bait mame and release

I don't think Tred cares, either.

totally disagree. If he didn't care so much, he wouldn't proclaim what he is doing. Think about it Jeff. I wouldn't be shocked if he had a scribe proclaim the weapon he was using on a elevated platform before he shot. He just needs attention.

If that was true why would hefling arrows at distances he hadn't practiced at? IE: The Caribou episode and the mule deer hunt.

It's a man making the statement you can't seperate the two.
Sure you can, Charlie....if you look at it objectively. I used the analogy earlier of Michael Vick. Is he or is he not a good NFL Quarterback(assuming it as legal for him to step onto the field, today)? I can separate the man (ethics/morals/etc...)from the athlete.

Isn't today opening day of Turkey for you?
Nope. But..tomorrow is.;)

BHF.....really...of all people I think you might understand how the more one delves into traditional shooting ......the more respect one might have for someone who chooses that route.

I've got a LOT more respect for his style (not the man) than I did 6 months ago. Hence my question, today.
Thats because you find trad difficult at this stage. If someone was to bet you 1000 dollars on one shot with your longbow with no warmup to be able to hit lung/heart at 20 yards, would you take it? I would. If they bet you the same with compound, how many would take the bet.

exactly, I am wondering how so many are failing to see this.

I like this.

Let's use Muhammed Ali as another example. His trademark statement was "I am the Greatest"......and he was. Did that offend you? Did he cae that you thought otherwise.....if he KNEW he could back up his claim? Tred's not saying that (I don't think....that he's the greatest). He's saying he does it the hard way. Can that be argued?

Re-check your definition of selfishness
If he is not the epitomy of pride and selfish attitudes, I'll pay for it. (At least on his "Show" anyway. Have no idea how he might be outside of an "actor's role".

By the way Jeff, I have a hard time seperating a man and his method if his method has made him what he is. Lol
