I plan on start butchering my own deer, and wondered what you would recommend for a good book or dvd?

Honestly, I would recommend having someone who has done it before come and show you the best way to do it. There is nothing like actually seeing what they are doing vice trying to get a good view on a video. I know that isn't always an option, though.

I WOULD JUST BUY A GOOD SET OF KNIFES AND A GRINDER AND GET STARTED...CAN'T MESS UP MEAT. I FEARED DOING IT MYSELF AND GOT STARTED LAST YEAR. BY THE 6TH DEER IT SEEMED EASY AND I STARTED TO WONDER WHY I WAS PAYING $70 TO HAVE ONE CUT UP. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT I BET YOU WILL ALSO DO IT ALOT CLEANER THAN A SHOP WOULD. AND YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT YOUR EATING. I TAKE THE TIME AND CLEAN ALMOST ALL THE FAT OUT OF MINE.

I did my first butcher job this past season, very easy to do and I actually enjoyed it. I'll never take one to the butcher again!!!!!
