RE: Is filming hunts becoming "Old Hat"?
ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer Filming hunts will never be old hat for me, particularly with turkeys. There is something special about catching and entire fold of events on film for keepsakes. Where as photos can be kept for memories for life, film does even more. I've taken several deer and several turkeys on film and I love to sit and watch them again. Photos only do so much. |
RE: Is filming hunts becoming "Old Hat"?
I would never try to sell my videos if i did make any, all that i want to do is have it for me and my family or friends to throw in. You never know when one of those...you remember that hunt...conversation can pop up!

You mean nobody has heard of Bw's Hunting Adventure's? No sponsers, no income, no nothing....
However I do have: A 5 Year Box Set -With video editting, music, titles, transitions, slow motion 2 -3CCD Panasonic AG-DVC 30's with wireless mics Agorilla tree arm And a desire to continue capturing my moments.. I'm working on a video right now for a guy I met on this forum. His name is Vince from PA. We have become great friends.... If there were A guzillion film makers I'd continue to do it for me....I'd like to be noticed ........but watching old vids with my buddies is my passion. Oh...and watching a luma nock fly to its mark in slow motion...I like that too...with a little techno, or fred bear playing in the background.:) |
RE: Is filming hunts becoming "Old Hat"?
I have always wanted to, but that means someone would have to give up a hunt to do it, and quite frankly, with the lack of time we get to hunt to start with, I just don't see any of my buddys giving up an opprotunity to hunt just film my lazy arse kill a deer!! We take our hunting time very seriously, we get so little of it, but it would be fun to do.

VA ...I do well with a gorilla treepod...If you ever wanted to dabble in it I could show you how I do it....
Now ..When I'm in the woods all I have to worry about is my release, my sights, my movement, my rest, noise, my rangefinder, my tree-pod & my camera..... In one smooth fashion it all comes together with no hiccups...LOL:) It actually does....most of the time...if I could only program the deer to listen to me. Even the wise doe(s) that I love to smoke on my smoker....they know when I'm in their home. |
RE: Is filming hunts becoming "Old Hat"?
Everyone seems to be having visions of being a TV celebrity. I have really never felt like making a video. My buddy decided once he wanted to video a turkey hunt. They were all coming in, I'm shooting the bow, a hen gets 5 yards from him(no blind), the gobbler is still 30 yards out when the hen gets all nervous and takes off. After reviewing the film we found the culprit. My buddy was shaking like a leaf with the hen that close to him putting and raising cane. I really don't care to do it. If Lee wants to use Tiffany to become a movie star... more power to him. It's not my thingy. I want to hunt... and then go home.

If you don't care to watch it over...and you want to store it in the memory bank and take a picture.....THATS FINE....
if you want to watch it over and show your kids when you're 60 years old....video it...and savor it.... Its simple....to each his own I guess.... |
RE: Is filming hunts becoming "Old Hat"?
But hey, I'm already past 60. My one and only kid is older than most people on this board. LOL

Dmil, I'll come film you and I've never spooked a turkey nor deer with a camera but only if you promise to stay in the blue undies.[8D];)

RE: Is filming hunts becoming "Old Hat"?
A couple of people touched on it already but I like the idea of the hunting being more social. Video would help this. You have a cameraman and a hunter. I'm almost always alone while I am hunting. We are togeather when we get up, around lunch and in the evening but we usually hunt alone.
My older boy had a blast with his buddy who hunted quite a bit this past season while home on leave from the Marines. Iowa has pretty liberal regulations for active duty military. I think that his freind got three free deer tags and a fall turkey tag and he bought some tags too. My boy had a blast going with him to video. I think that I might enjoy watching (and taping) my boys shoot a deer more than I would enjoy shooting it myself. Also, the only spooning that I would do while out in the field involves a Dare Devil and a spinning rod. Bob |
