My Grand Dad has always said "People find time to do what they want to do"

I've found that to be very True!;)

I'm engaged, but living apart while she finishes school, so I do have more time to dedicate to archery/this forum. My job does allow some free time in spurts throughout the day to check here. Come Fall, my whole family knows I'm going to be in the woods every minute I can get and everyone is very supportive (even my fiance, even though sometimes it's an issue). I bought her one heck of a rock this christmas though so I'll just point to that anytime she complains this next season:D[8D]

I try to fit it in where i can. Me and my girlfriend dont get to spend alot of time alone together because of my work schedule and her kids. She somewhat understands that rifle season has been a tradition with my father since ive been able to hunt. As for bowhunting, I do that local so I usually only go when has the kids or is working. Plus i try to spend as much time doing things she likes with herin the summer.

Fortunately my job has me sitting in front of a computer all day so that makes being on here easy. I fit in scouting, setting stands, fishing, and the other things where I can around family and housework. Hunting takes up my time when the seasons are in, but nothing will take priority over my family. Whenever there is a family thing that needs my attention or a family event I am there. There is nothing worse than sitting in the woods and feeling guilty about being there, so I don't put myself in that position. I hunted a lot this year and my wife was great about it. After turkey season is over I will be paying her back, and happy to do it.

Heres my secret my wife works until 7 every night for the most part. I come home at 245 everyday so I shoot and do a little work here and there. After that it around 7 she gets home cooks I clean up and shower. We watch Tv go to sleep. Weekends are pretty much we sleep in on the off season of hunting season and when its not a fishing day. Get up I start work saturday night every saturday night we go out to eat she doesnt have to cook and clean the kitchen. Then we go see a movie or we go out with friends. Sunday we go to church then come home and she cooks lunch while I get ready to get the rest of my work done if theres any left most of the time I am actually done on the weekdays so all I do is play around on the weekends IE shoot my bow fish and hunt.

This is a breath of fresh air for me...

I go out with a city girl and she just doesnt get that there are several weekends I need to be gone from the house... Opening of all archery seasons, duck and of course Fish. Sometimes I get red in the face trying to explain it to her but she usually comes around in the end. If she doesnt my daughter (2 by the way) will do all this with me, so eventually it will be time off for her. After I explain that to her she usually understands better.

Michigan,

This is an interesting thread and it gets others on here the opportunity to learn more about the people on this forum. In my personal situation, I'm married with three (3) children, the oldest is 7, 3, and 2 years. I work 3-11 shift throughout the year, and any overtime we accumulate can be taken at a 1.5 rate, or as Comp time off. I keep all my overtime until hunting season and take days on either end of days off which gives me extended time afield. As for the wife, I have introduced her to hunting in recent years during PA's rifle and spring turkey seasons. So I hunt the archery season, and accompany her during the firearms season. We have a more than willing extended family when child care becomes an issue. Good post.
