Default Road kill bucks

So far this year I know of 2 different bucks that have been hit on the highway the last few weeks where the deer in my area travel across. Both of these bucks had a good 2 inches of antler growing already with some unbelievable circumference's coming out of there head. Its probably a safe bet both of these bucks were P@Y. Both bucks would of dressed in that 170lb range now. I'm sure this summer they would of been in that 200lb range dressed area. I think this happens allot more then we realize. Sure is frustrating!![:@]

That sucks Steve. Its pretty amazing at how quickly they start growing their antlers back! I've read that within 3 weeks of shedding their old rack the new antler starts. The initial growth is very slow going at first but as we know starts to progress pretty quick!

Some of ours haven't even lost both sides yet and you're already seeing velvet?

We've got bucks around here too that are still carrying there head gear, all the ones I've seen with the antlers on are all smaller bucks. The big guy's start growing a bit earlier then the younger bucks I imagine.

Makes sense, I haven't seen any of the big boys up close this year yet just the 1 1/2 -2's.

This time of year with green up occuring around the roads first takes a toll on a lot of hungry deer.
