RE: FAST??
To be totally honest, Gary - I think I may have blew through shoulder blade on Buck #2 |
RE: FAST??
ORIGINAL: Germ Switch shooter that is the big one IMO and most over looked. Quick put a 550+ grain arrow on the HCA and then one of your speed rockets. All I can say is in 24 years of bowhunting I have never had a deer "jump" my string. I bet I shoot a slower setup than most here. IMO silence is my #1 most valuable asset in hunting. camo is accually #2 for me, because I know I can freeze and fool a deer (or turkey) by not makeing sound. they can stand there and look right at me but if one of the other sences dont say, "hunter" I am usually scott free in a few minutes. |
RE: FAST??
Speed is highly overated. Shot placement and stealth is everything.

RE: FAST??
A hunting set-up over 280 with a 400 + grain arrow is pretty fast sounding to me.But if you can't put the arrow where it needs to be, speed is USELESS!!! I don't shoot well enough to be overly accurate with one of these short BH speed bows, and my shoulders wouldn'ttolerate pullingmuch more than 70# too many times, soI'm for the most part gonna need to be satisfied w/ what I'm getting 276-278 out of my Trykon XL with a 415 gr. arrow at 29."

RE: FAST??
Fast to me is considered anything over 310fps... that is for fast in general.
Fast for hunting, with hunt ready arrows and broadheads is anything at or over 275. Smokin' fast is over 300fps. You just don't need that much speed with a hunting set up... gets harder and harder to shoot well with it. My bow is throwing 454gr arrows at 282.... to me, that is about a perfect balance of good fast speed that is controlable, with a nice heavy arrow that carries itself well. |
