RE: What are ya'll's Backgrounds?

Why do I believe that whole story by GregH?

I grew up on a 150 acre Christmas tree farm. (We also raised corn and had horses.) I went to college after high school Didn't like the corporate world, so I joined the Navy and spent 17 years in uniform. Now I work for a software company and live in a little place in the boonies.

Cut my hunting teeth with my Dad and my uncles. We hunted as a family (and when I say family, I mean all 30 or so of us). Not always at one area, but always met for breakfast in the wee hours of the morning and always met to cut up the deer (which we shared) in the evening. Great memories.

I was raised a poor white boy and things were so tough that every year the only new item I got every year was from my grandpa; hegave me something to wear and something to play with, so he gave me new bib overalls with the pockets cut out. I was a happy child.

I grew in the "HOOD", not a very good environment but we moved when I was about 14 to a location in the country - I had seven miles of protected lands to fish on every day and I know live in semi-country but want to be farther out

RE: What are ya'll's Backgrounds?

Grew up in a small coal mining town in southern WV. Everybody was poor, but we never knew it. Hard work and Hard times was the norm. Lay-offs, union strikes, mining related deaths were normal/expected. I alwas thought I would end up working in the mine. Dad made sure I went to school so I would not have to "work" like he did. I graduated from Marshall University in 1996 and found a career in finance.I have been in the banking industry since 1999.

Lived in a small city for 8 years and in Lexington KY for 5 and moved back to my home townlast year when we found out Dad had cancer. Moving back to raise my daughter in my hometown was the best decision I have ever made. I just wish I would have done it 5 years ago.

Snowboarding and the mild winters. The only down fall is that there are no whitetales out there.

RE: What are ya'll's Backgrounds?

I grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. Going one direction I could be on a farm within 10 minutes of my house, going the other I could be in some nasty urban setting nobody would want to be in. Fortunately for me I seemed to find myself heading toward the farms more often than heading toward the city. My grandpap got me initially involved in the outdoors as he would always take us grandkids fishing. My dad was much more of an avid hunter when I was younger than he is now or even when my younger brother was growing up. He would take me out hunting with him when I was old enough and I was hooked. Since then I've hunted in central PA while in college, the southeast when I lived in Florida, and now I reside in the suburbs of Philly. I still find myself heading away from the city more often than toward it, and I still don't see that as a bad thing.

Cant say farm but cant say city either. Grew up in a little hick town called Orange Tx. Pop of the county 36,000 but spent alot of time hunting and fishing just about as long as i can remeber Dad work for E.I Dupont chemical plant he worked there since 1980 as a plant process operator makes awesome money for the area rich no.My dad always saved and spent money wisely and know the kids are gone can afford anything he wants but still saves money and invest and spend wisely. I would love to see my dad get a brand new truck but he wont and never will he will buy used until the day he dies and pay cash for everything he buys. I try to live by his ways but I have to give it to my old man thats sometimes hard. You see something you want know you could get credit for it and pay it off but wont until you have the cash. I got a loan for my guardian just paid it off today.

Grew up in a small farming town (under 1000). Both my parents came from farming families, so I spent a lot of time working on my grandparents and uncles farms growing up.

Raised in a town of around 28,000, back then;still small enough to be able to walk most places I wanted to go. Spent a lot of time out in the woods growing up and fished a lot of stock ponds nearby.

Third generation Woodstock New York.I have been fishing and hunting since I was allowed to.Woodstock NY is now 70% second homeowner occupied. We are in the catskill mountains which are plentiful and rugged.I used to hunt or fish every day after school until high school athletics came around. Most of my class mates moved out of the area for employment opportuniteis.I feel very fortunate to have been able to stay.I see turkeys and deer practically every day of the year and have plenty of great out door activities within easy distances.
I am and will always be a country boy.

I grew up on a small ranch in the mountains of Idaho. My Dad was a logger my mother teaches school. My back door my entire life has been pretty much and endless supply of public and timber company ground land to hunt and fish.

RE: What are ya'll's Backgrounds?

I grew up in Miami, Florida - right in the middle of the city, working-class residential neighborhood. I think I must have had hunting in my blood, though, because I pestered my parents for a BB gun until they finally got me one when I was 8 years old. I immediately began hunting - shooting lizards and iguanas in our backyard. I probably shot hundreds, if not thousands of lizards by the time I was 14 and my family moved to Ohio. A good way for a kid to hone basic marksmanship skills on live creatures.

In Ohio I graduated to groundhogs & rabbits with a .22 or shotgun, then to deer. Started bowhunting when I was 28, and now pretty much exclusively use a bow or muzzleloader for deer and turkey.

Grew up on my grandfather's farm (that he never really farmed) in schuylkill county PA.
Just took a job as a probation officer in D.C. so we are lookin for a place in the suburbs right now.
Hopefully it won't be too long before I'll be able to build myself a cabin on the farm. I like the area I'm in now because you can always find something fun to do, but I still love to get back to the country.

Grew up in rural Howell, Mi. had all the land I wanted to hunt. 4 miles off pavement. Went away to school for 2 years in Kalamazoo, came back and it was all getting built up.Went to school in the UP of michigan for another 5 years and got my BSN in nursing. Been an RN at U of M for the past 9 years. Currently in the Cardio-Vascular ICU. Much of my hunting now is at my buddies place just outside of Onaway in the North East part of the state around Black Lake. We build a cabin on his 2 acres in the middle of the Macinaw State Forest. Then hunting is tough up there but very rewarding when you connect. I still do some hunting down state. Brian (Michiganwhitetail74) set me up this past season to get a nice doe kill on video.

I am from a very smallcounty town. lost of woods and very heavily populated with deer.:) i am quite in crowds but more open on the net or in small crowds. I like to listen to others opinions and take my experiences and put it in to a plan. I am a reactionest, i dont like change in my surroundings. I stand up for what i believe in. Considered by some to be stubborn but not arrogant, friendly but dont appear to be that way, I hold a grudge but have recently learned life is to short so that dont apply anymore. I back up my family and friends (if there right) and wont back down. I dont like violance but wont run from it. I respect others ideas but i wont live my life by what they want like the PETA people.
