RE: what kind of stand
For hangons I use a Loc-on Lem, Gorilla Wolverine, Amacker, High Point(API), and my run and gun hangon.....Lone Wolf Assault. I hang them as high as necessary according to what is called for at my chosen spot. I've killed deer from a hangon as low as 7' to around 25'. There is no set in stone height.....it just all depends.

RE: what kind of stand
I use a tree lounge. Heavy to carry and not so easy to set up at times. However, the comfort of the stand, IMO, is unmatched. If im in an uncomfortable position for too long, my body starts screaming atme to move. I dont have that problem with this stand.

Summit Viper @ 20' > 25'

RE: what kind of stand
Summit Goliath at 20-25' usually. Also, the property I hunt has a ton of ladders in place, so we hunt those too, most are around 17'

RE: what kind of stand
20' to the base or to the seat? I know many stands are sold saying theyre 17 feet....or 20feet but really thats 2' higher than they are.......since thats to the seat height, not the platform, I go by platform height, I'm betting that 95% of stands are at 15feet, you 20' plus guys are crazy, personally I like more than 15, but 20 is plenty high, I think 16-20' to theplatform is perfect. unless youre in a steep draw and 20' up is a level shot to a deer trail.

RE: what kind of stand
I build my own ladder stands, based on the tree I want to put it in. I have stands ranging from10' - 18' I have been successful with gun & bow, at all hights.
