Cool story Magic! During the gun season I let all the yahoo's in my area that but up to our land chase all the deer to me. You can tell when they get off there stands in the morning, deer coming by frequently! I see more deer and big bucks during the gun season usually more then any time of the year. Everyone in my area has this drive thing forced in there heads, I get more out of it then they do little do they know!

One evening I was bow hunting and some idiot comes along banging his climbing stand thru the brush. I can here him climb a tree and I was going to leave. Then it dawned on me that any deer that wind him will circle right to me so I stayed. A while later I here a snort and I get ready. Along comes an 8 pointer right past my tree. I drew on him and said "your dead" then let up. he was a little small so he got a free pass.

Ditto here in Iowa. 2 of my last 3 deer including my biggest buck came in to range so preoccupied about what had scared them that they never knew I was there until it was too late!
My problem with drives is that you have to hit a moving target usually, it's a helluva lot easier to hit a deer that is standing still or walking slowly than a runner!

I've got 23 acres and no hunting pressure around me. Remote and several hundreds of acres all around with mostly no one hunting. Spent 16 hours in the woods to take my three deer this year. Parts of 4 days...

Even my private archery club grounds will see roughly 10-20 guys on any given Saturday on our 97 acres.

How does everyone get to a stand without stinking the place up, jumping spooking everything to the next county, and not interfering with each other's hunting?
I realize ( or at least I thinkI do) that 97 acres in your country hunts much bigger than 97 acres in our country, but I still can't even imagine.
I have 300 acres all to myself with the exception of an ocassional invited friend or family member, and my place is considered a small to medium place, in my part of the world.
I also have sole access to another farm of 640 acres, but it is mostly planted in wheat with little cover except on one end where there is a1 milelong shelter belt, and then a few other"good spots" on 2 of the other 3 sides, but it does not hunt as near as big as it sounds. That is, unless you want to gun hunt and shoot them off the field from 200-300 yards away.
I archery hunt public land for mule deer and elk each year in both New Mexico and Colorado, and while I may regularly see another hunter a mile or so away, I have encountered very few hunters face to face or even within a quarter of a mile over the years.
The ony exception would be hunting water holes in Southwestern New Mexico. You better get there early for the afternoon hunt if you want to claim the hole for that afternoon's hunt.

I hunt on 15 acres of private land, and I have sole permision to be out there. Durring bow season, there might be 1 0r 2 guys on the land next to me on any given day. But now when the guns come out, I am surrounded on all sides with an army of orange.

Yes I have hunters, quad runners, snow mobilers, and yote huntes.
Wi has over500,000 to 600,000gun hunters per year.
Not sure on the Archery numbers but 4 of us hunt the 156 acres.
