Here's the circulatory ststem. You are better off aiming more forward of your hit so you will sever larger bloodvessels and arteries rather than risk getting a marginal shot.
Your hit appears to be almost at the back edge of the lungs.

I'll answer this dead is dead, obviously you recovered the deer. You asked if it was optimal. In mine and a few others opinions it is not.
You probably double lunged that deer. But, it wasn't a center shot through the lungs.

The shot would be perfectly acceptable to me if that was where my arrow impacted the deer, however... That is not exactly where I would have aimed.
