My high fence experience

I would bet that a guy that pays big bucks for a canned buck to put on his wall,is the same kind of guy that keeps the pictures of pretty girls that come with a new wallet ,you know him hes the guy that drives around in his new truckfor a week with the window sticker in place.

I see hunting as like life in general. Some are happy to exist and that is all the effort they put into it. Others live To achieve, and to achieve in this world effort is needed, and in most cases the effort involved directly results in that level of achievement.
Hunting works in the same way, A four point buck shoot on the last day of the season is an achievement as it involved effort.
A 12 point buck shot ten minutes after the feeders timer went off required little more effort than asking the guide to close the gate behind you.A Little effort for a little achievement.
So I guess how you find happiness is really up to you.
Hunting in its self is so much more than the killing of an animal and if you fail to see that then you really are missing more than you will ever know.

I don't agree with high fenced hunting, so I will not do it, but if someone chooses to, that's their buisness, they don't have to ask forgiveness from anyone here. The OP stated he didn't enjoy the experience, lesson learned.
To all those who have a giant chip on their shoulder about HF, just remember that when the Government finishes the HF on the US/Mexico boarder that you will have to quit hunting because the US/Canada is now a HF ranch. Think about it.

I'm guessing you haven't traveled much through Texas. Lots of high fences and more going up yearly. And more and more are less than 1000 acres, some considerably. And there are quite a few people who will spend money when they think they can make it back. I can't see it going away anytime soon. At least here in Texas. There is a lot of scrub land that's not much good for anything but deer, turkey, and hogs. Not a lot of way to make money off of it.

High fence is one hell of an expensive thing. In most parts of the world, surrounding your 1000+ acres with 8' high fence that would keep a deer out/in would cost more than your 1000+ acres did. In fact, I throughly suspect that is the plain and simple reason that you don't see more high fences.

Believe it or not... there is a world outside of Texas....
