Anyone that says they are common in their area needs to invest in a scale and take the time to use them. Possible? Yes. Common? Absolutely not anywhere.

Here ya go, guess this one:

Robin, In southwestern MN where i hunt that is maybe a yearling compared to the big does around here. I dont have a scale but just on body size I would guess most of the mature does in my area are pushing 150-180#'s. The one in your picture would still have milk on it's lips. I could see a 200# doe be shot around here pretty easily. All deer here are corn fed monsters. They have big bodies but the racks dont seem to follow. I would guess that deer weighs around 115-125#'s. If i could figure out how to post pic's i would show some examples. The real light winters lately seem to help also.

">Hopefully here is a pick of a doe and buck. This doe is a medium size doe but look at her compared to the buck.

Hard to tell, the deer looks like a bass heldclose to the camera in that pic. Maybe 130-140#.

I shot a big old doe here in PA that dressed out at 167#. She was an old deer gray face busted up hooves and her teeth were worn done to about nothing. 167# dressed would put her around 200 live weight, So i know for a fact possible but definitely not common.

115 to 125lbs is a nice doe anywhere in the USA. Do you realize how big a doe it takes to get over 130lbs?

Thats the problem, you don't have a scale so you assume every doe is big that you see or shoot. I do have a scale. Were hunting pretty much the same deer here being I live in Central Mn. Never have I seen anything close to a 200lb doe. I'm not saying there isn't one lurking around but your theory of most of the mature doe's pushing between 150lbs to 180lbs is a little carried away!

This I 100% agree with.;) The buck in my avatar is 210lbs dressed. Imagine a doe like that, not to likely!

Agree 100% Schultzy. Keep guessing on my doe guys. There is nothing funky going on there with the pic. I am sitting right up against her and not pushing any of her towards the camera. 200 lbers are possible, but no way common anywhere. Neither are 150 lbers. Like Schultzy said, a 200 lb buck is exceptional, including all that extra neck muscle that no doe has. Let's not forget the original question is about a dressed wt of a doe.

Right on Schultzy! And I do hunt SW MN just about every year. And I hunt pheasants down there several times a year. The deer are not all "corn fed monsters" in fact, I think in this state, you will see many times more 200# plus deer in northern MN (and even up there they are still rare). I have seen only one doe that maybe made the 200# dressed range. Schultzy is right, you really gotta have a scale. How many of us have seen fisherman try to guess the length of weight of fish and be off by at least 50%?

RobinAim Low: I have never had much luck guessing weights by pictures, but that looks like a damn good doe. I'm gonna guess 150#

Tough picture to judge being I can't see the whole deer. 120lbs?
