While certainely possible, the cases where they have been verified are probably rarer then a buck scoring 200.

They are not common anywhere including Canada or ABarOfSoap's back yard.

Hunters bring "170#'s" does to my local shop to be weighed every year that go 115#.

And the 250# bucks are usually about 160.

Farm fed central NY deer.

[blockquote]I totally agree with SteveBNy. 200 live weight....maybe. My fiance shot a nice doe this year (Her first deer) and it dressed 135lbs. on a scale. It was one of the bigger doe that Ive seen taken. I did see one that was never weighed at our gun club that would have went 160-170 but got butchered before someone thought to weigh it. Biggest buck I have ever seen dressed 212lbs and I have never ever seen another deer that big. In person and alive. Did see a buck last year in Canada that dressed 254 lbs. That was a hog. 297 live weight.[/blockquote]

just going by what i see on tv of the close to250+ lb deer they shoot in saskatchewan... makes sense to me, how could a deer under 150 survive alot ofwinters there

Dont believe everything you see on TV! A deer under 150lbs can survive just fine in Canada. How do you think all of the fawns and 95% of the doe's make it through winter? Its all stored fat, they'll be just fine in most cases. The first deer to actually die in the winter is the buck that looses 70% of his body fat due to chasing doe's around during the rut, the fawns also are one of the first to not make it if its that severe of a winter.

I agree with a lot of the guys that guess most weights are exaggerated. I have seen one doe that I had to get the bino's out to verify she wasn't a buck with busted off antlers. If I was a betting man, I would put her weight (dressed) in the very high 100's to the very low 200's. Old, gray, muzzled, sway back, and had a large paunch hanging. All the markings of a VERY large bodied mature deer. This was northern MN, where I have seen several bucks on the scale well upwards of the 220lb mark. And I still wasn't sure that it wasn't a buck with busted antlers until it turned and raised it's flag to crap. Not quite the 400lb deer someone claimed to have seen the other day, but she was BY FAR the largest doe I have ever seen. And one of the largest live deer I have seen, too.

i dont know about that, ive seen plenty of shows where a deer has a 160" rack and it looks like so small because of how big there body is, it seems like a 250 pounder is pretty common for a mature buck in most parts of saskatchewan unless all these shows areexagerating there weight.
